Neptune Noodle Bar in Burnaby serves up a focused Chinese noodle and dim sum experience with a straightforward, no-frills setting reminiscent of Hong Kong’s casual cha chaan teng eateries. Located on the second floor of a commercial building near Central Boulevard, this spot caters mostly to locals looking for quick, comforting meals rather than leisurely dining.

The interior is compact, so arriving early is wise to avoid waits, especially around peak lunch hours. The vibe echoes a busy, easy-going noodle shop where service can be brisk and somewhat informal—staff may require a nudge but get the job done efficiently enough.

The star here is the food portion size and variety, which leans toward traditional and recognizable Chinese staples. Popular options include generous bowls of wonton noodle soup and the BBQ duck with noodles, which locals appreciate for its hearty, warming qualities. Dim sum offerings like steamed Chiu Chow dumplings and pork shao mai with fish roe arrive in substantial servings, making this a good spot to share with company if you want a quick bite that feels familiar and fulfilling.

Beyond noodles and steamed treats, the menu stretches into comforting congee varieties and BBQ meats sold by the half portion, allowing more substantial meals at reasonable prices for the Vancouver area. Those ordering curry beef tendon should note the meat sometimes requires extra cutting to their liking, reflecting the place’s practical rather than polished approach.

Neptune Noodle Bar works best as a casual stop for those craving straightforward, hot Chinese dishes without the fuss of elaborate ambiance or lengthy service. It fits a local pattern where people drop in for a fast, satisfying meal—whether solo or with others—particularly around lunch. Payment is cash-based, so come prepared.

In short, this noodle bar suits anyone who values generous portions of comforting Chinese food in a no-nonsense environment, willing to embrace a bit of hustle and bustle that makes it feel grounded in the daily rhythm of Burnaby’s food scene.

Good place for quick comfort chinese food. Their lunch specials are worth the price as it came in huge servings. The food is tasty and arrived hot. The dimsum also came in large portiond. The place is not that big so you have to come early or prepare to wait a few minutes for a table.

Enjoyed duck noodle soup. Curry beef tendon good but meat needs cutting smaller. Ginger milk soup nice and hot

The Missus and I have been to the Neptune Noodle Bar twice. Despite the reviews, both times were pleasant experiences as we were prepared with our expectations. The service was indeed similar to Hong Kong style cafes (cha chaan teng) where one may need to flag a server down and receive abrupt responses. We found the prices were okay considering we are in the Vancouver area. Payment was by cash, debit or credit card plus 2%. I had my go to delicious Laksa soup with beef brisket and bean curd. The Missus enjoyed her tasty flounder and pork broth soup with beef brisket or BBQ pork plus shrimpy wontons. Both times the egg or rice noodles were cooked to perfection. We also sampled some dim sum side dishes; the pork dumpling with peanuts and the pork shao mai with fish roe. Both were good. We will try the stir fried dishes at our next visit.
